Project Details
Erected in 1897 by entrepreneur and civic leader Claus Spreckels, the building was one of the first skyscrapers in the city and originally home to The San Francisco Call newspaper.
Needless to say, these cabs were in need of a nice upgrade. The primary wall finish is a simple matte white plastic laminate. Look up and you’ll see the frieze detail. It incorprates carved bronze pieces from the existing cab interior along with new bronze trim. The frieze detail was finished using an abraded surface technique bringing continuity between old and new. Much detail work was required to get the fit and finish just right.
The flooring was upgraded to a dark large format, man-made porcelain tile providing durability and ease of maintenance. In contrast, the ceiling brightens up the cab with 4 unique silken web interlayer diffusers.
